For over twenty years, I have been caring for pets like family. I am based in Minnesota but travel all over the continent, caring for furry friends while their parents are on their own adventures. From dogs and cats to horses and hamsters, I have snuggled, played, and kept them feeling safe and loved. I have skimmed pools, harvested gardens, and run around unplugging all the electronics in a desert home whenever there was lightning. I have cared for many homes and pets with patience and respect.
I am a mature, dependable adult with decades of experience house sitting. Because I work remotely, I’m able to keep your pet’s routine intact—I’m not on vacation, and I don’t need them to adjust to me. They can move through their day the way they usually do, with someone who is there, engaged, and comfortable being in their space. I send daily texts with photos and short videos, and if you'd like to video chat with your pet, we can arrange that too. I’m present, responsive, and quick to notice the small things—how they’re eating, how they’re sleeping. They don’t have to wait all day for someone to come home to them. They already have someone there.
Please note: I only accept sits in homes that are entirely smoke-free, including cannabis.
I specialize in long stays, but I’m open to short stays on a case-by-case basis.
Short stays start at $40 a night.
Long stays start at $500 a month.

"I couldn't ask for a better dog walker! Libby is reliable, kind and truly loves animals. My dog lights up when she arrives and always comes back happy and well-exercised. It gives me so much peace of mind knowing that Clara is in such good hands." - Alyssa W. Shakopee, MN
"My husband and I were gone for three days in July and booked Libby as our live-in cat-sitter. We had adopted Maisie last November, after losing our beloved Gracie the previous June. Gracie was 10 when we adopted her and 19 when she died. When it came time to welcome a new cat into our home, we knew we wanted to provide a loving home for another senior. Maisie was 9 and her human had died.😢 Maisie suffered a few months of neglect in the hands of a relative who admitted he did not like cats! She basically hid for those months, and lost a lot of weight, until finally a caring neighbor convinced that guy to put the cat up for adoption. At United Animal Friends, they saw immediately that she was traumatized and would not thrive in the main shelter, so they placed her with a foster mom who I credit with helping her recover. Maisie had been in the foster home for 5 weeks when we met her and fell in love. We took her home that same day.
Because Maisie is accustomed to both of us being home most of the time (we're retired), and because of her history of trauma/neglect, we will never leave her with a sitter who only comes once a day to feed. Because she is still underweight and has some intestinal issues, Maisie gets four small meals a day. She gets HOURS of time on our shoulders or in our laps. She loves nothing more than human contact. A total cuddler. All this to say we are picky when it comes to who we will leave her with.
Maisie took to Libby immediately, when she came over to meet her prior to our departure. Libby was a great listener, and you could tell she wanted to know all of our cat's quirks and preferences, because she sincerely wants to replicate, while we are gone, Maisie's normal life.
And miraculously, she did.
Within an hour of our departure and Libby's arrival, Libby sent me a photo of sweet Maisie snuggled onto her neck like a furry scarf. I'm sure I don't need to tell other pet people how relieved this made me feel. When we can't be with our babies, we want someone who is a reasonable facsimile to us and our love and devotion. Someone who will slide in without a hitch, and maintain our pet's daily routines and love them as we love them.
Unrealistic? Too much to ask for? Apparently not. Libby James is all that and more. A cat-sitting miracle. A pet owner's dream." - Melanie B, Prescott, AZ.
"Libby is a trusted dog sitter turned friend! She took excellent care of my elderly dog, Hope, for weekly walks when my office returned to work. She always arrived on time, took a photo, and let me know how my dog was doing. She walked Hope weekly across multiple years, and I appreciated her reliability and the care she showed for my senior pup." -Joanna M, Edina, MN.
